Charles Hardaker

Charles Hardaker was born in 1934. He studied at Birmingham College of Arts and Crafts and after completing National Service in 1955 he spent three years at the Royal College of Art in London, (Queen’s Scholar) ARCA 1958.

Charles was elected to the Royal Society of British Artists in 1984 and remained a valued member for over four decades. He was also a long-standing member of the New English Art Club. His work was wide-ranging, encompassing painting, printmaking, and design, and he exhibited regularly at the Mall Galleries and across the UK. Beyond his artistic practice, Charles was known for his generosity of spirit, his encouragement of fellow artists, and his commitment to the Society.

He has work in the permanent collections of the Tate Gallery, The Guildhall of London, the GLC, the National Library of Wales, the Institution of Civil Engineers and numerous private collections in the UK and overseas including the USA, Canada, Japan and Greece.
